3 civilians injured in Arnia, RS Pura
Three civilians were injured as Pakistani Rangers resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling in Arnia and R S Pura Sector here last night, officials said Sunday.
Several mortars landed in the civilian areas in Arnia Town and the villages Kaku-De Kothay, MahashaKothe, Jabowal, Treva, Chingia, Alla, Sie, Chenaz and Devigarh also came under heavy shelling from across the border, they said.
A Border Security Force (BSF) officer said, “Pakistani soldiers heavily shelled and targeted as many as 15 Border out Posts (BoPs) and hamlets along the International Border (IB) on Saturday night, leaving three persons injured.”
He added, “After heavy firing, Pakistani Rangers resorted to heavy mortar shelling in Arnia and parts of R S Pura Sector of Jammu district last night. Our soldiers retaliated in equal measure.”
Dozens of shells landed and exploded in the deserted Arnia Town, the reports said. However, peace prevailed in forward sectors of Samba, Ramgarh, Hiranagar and Kathua as there were no reports of any firing or shelling in these areas.
