Massive clashes erupt as forces lay siege to Kulgam village
Intense clashes erupted after government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Arwani village of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Friday.
Reports said that Army and SOG cordoned off the village after inputs about the presence of militants today morning.
However, people took to streets and staged massive protests to help the militants escape from the cordon.
Reports said that thousands of people from the adjoining villages of Redwani, Qaimoh and Khudwani are trying to march towards the Arwani village where three militants are believed to be trapped inside the cordon.
Public address systems of mosques are being used to exhort people to help the militants escape.
