120 killed in Jan – Feb in different road accidents
3267 lives lost in last 3 years
Around 19,845 road accidents in last three years have claimed 3267 lives in Jammu and Kashmir in the last three years, 120 of them in the first two months of this year.
Around 27,544 people have been injured.
The division wise break up for the period shows that 2,192 persons lost their lives in Jammu region while 1,075 were killed in Kashmir region.
In 2012, total 1165 people died, while 9755 were injured in 6709 road mishaps across the state. Of these, highest 204 persons lost their lives in Jammu district alone.
Similarly in 2013, 990 persons died and 5861 were injured in 6469 accidents and the death toll was again highest in Jammu district at 213 in 1615 accidents.
In the year 2014, 992 people were killed while 8043 were injured in 5861 accidents. Again the causalities were highest in Jammu district with 165 deaths.
