Separatists call for protests on Friday, shutdown on Saturday

KPs welcome to return, but won’t allow ghettos in Valley: Yasin Malik

Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik Wednesday called for peaceful sit-in at Lal Chowk on Friday and complete shutdown on Saturday against the proposed creation of “composite townships” for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.

Addressing media-persons here, Malik asked the Indian civil society to “define composite townships.”

“A separate colony for Kashmir Pandits is a conspiracy to build the walls of hate in J&K in the name of religion,” he alleged.

Malik said the pro-freedom camp has repeatedly urged KPs to return to their homeland.

“We strongly support return of KPs to Valley. They have the same rights to live in the Valley with dignity and honour as we have.

They are our brothers and sisters. However, any conspiracy to build the walls of hate in the name of religion will not be allowed to succeed,” he said.

He said the ‘composite culture’ of Kashmir should be restored “rather than following the strategy of Israel to build separate colonies which results in spreading hate.”

“We are holding peaceful dharna at GhantaGhar (Clock Tower) on Friday and urge people to join us to oppose the proposed move (of composite townships). I also appeal people to observe complete shutdown on Saturday to express their resentment against it,” Malik said.

Malik said: “A separate homeland for Kashmiri Pandits is actually a conspiracy to harm religious harmony in Kashmir and change Jammu and Kashmir into another Palestine. People of Jammu and Kashmir will never allow this conspiracy to succeed.”

“Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and his PDP have started working against the interests of Kashmiris and implement Nagpur (RSS headquarter) agenda. After deliberate noisy debates on AFSPA, Mufti has started his work to fulfill RSS agenda in Kashmir,” he alleged.

“Mufti Sayeed and his masters in RSS and BJP want to damage our thousands of years old religious harmony, unity, social ethics and above all composite culture so that Indian hegemony on Jammu and Kashmir is prolonged and Kashmiris are divided on religious lines,” Malik said.

“Kashmiri Pandits are part of our soul. They are masters of this land as we are and nobody can stop them from coming to Kashmir or living here.”
Yasin Malik said Kashmiri Muslims did not shun “this passion of religious harmony even in 1947.”

“When Muslims were being massacred by RSS terrorists in Jammu, we safeguarded our Pandit brethren and other non-Muslims in Kashmir and that is why even Gandhi had to say if there is any ray of hope it is in Kashmir,” he said.

“Only few days ago, Kashmiri Pandits took out a religious procession through Lal Chowk Srinagar on the occasion of Janam Ashtami and world saw how Kashmiri Muslims escorted them.”
