Village-head thrashed, hospitalized

An elected village-head of the National Conference was thrashed by people after he allegedly tried to manhandle a gas dealer when he denied a gas cylinder in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Eyewitnesses said former Ikhwani commander and National Conference village-head Abdul Rashid Kabuli abused the gas dealer Shakeel Ahmed after he denied him a gas cylinder in Hajin’s Khatpora.

“The village-head not only abused my nephew but also manhandled him after which people pounced on him and gave him a body lash,” Mushtaq Ahmed said.

He added that he had already taken a gas cylinder few days before.

However, a relative of the village-head said that gas dealer denied him cylinder as Kabuli had campaigned for National Conference in the area.

“Not only the relatives of gas dealer but certain people attacked the village-head as a result he suffered serious injuries,” he said and added that Kabuli was shifted to hospital for treatment.

A police official said that they are investigating the matter and guilty would be booked under law.
