Cold wave grips Jammu region too

Banihal, Bhaderwah shiver at below freezing point

People across Jammu region faced biting cold as temperatures in many areas plunged several notches below freezing point.

Even as the region remained under the grip of cold wave for second day, the weathermen see no respite from the freezing conditions in the coming days.
Officials of Meteorological department said that wrapped in the dense fog Jammu region Friday recorded lowest maximum and minimum temperature of the season.
They added that for the first time the night temperature in Banhial and Bhaderwah was recorded at below freezing point at – 2.1 degree Celsius and -1.0 degree Celsius respectively. “Jammu city recorded maximum temperature at 9.3 degree Celsius and minimum temperature at 3.3 degree Celsius,” they said and added that this temperature was lowest of season. Earlier on 18 December, Jammu recorded minimum temperature at 4.5 degree Celsius and maximum at 10.2 degree Celsius. Banihal recorded maximum 12.7 degree Celsius and minimum -2.1 degree Celsius, Bhaderwah 12.9 degree Celsius maximum and   -1.0 degree Celsius minimum temperature.
