Geelani says Muslim clerics backing BJP are ‘unscrupulous’

All Parties Hurriyat Conference chief Syed Ali Geelani Friday Friday launched a scathing attack on Deobandi Muslim cleric who are campaigning for the right wing Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party in Kashmir for the assembly elections.

Referring to the “atrocities perpetrated by Indian regime and their forces”, he said, “India with all its might is denying our basic right and depriving us from our culture, economic status and our religious and moral values are at stake. India with its deceitful politics, Macavlian policy and with its 8 lakh forces and thousands of village defenses committees leashed a reign of terror and on the other hand some unscrupulous elements like Suhaib Qasmi and a few non-local clerics from little known Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Hind, came out to campaign in support of BJP.”

Geelani while castigating these clerics, said, “They are brain washed by RSS and work on the tune of their masters.”

Lashing out at these clerics and Indian sponsored NGO; the octogenarian said, “They have bartered their faith for worldly interests and following sinister designs to fulfill the agenda of BJP.”

Geelani warned people against these clerics and stressed: we need to be alert and cautious as both  India and Israel are hell-bent to tarnish our identity and in his appeal to all freedom, sociopolitical and religious organizations urged to be vigilant and come with their stance about these so called clerics.

He stressed all local committees that they should appoint and  prefer local clerics for religious obligation in local mosques over these and expressed hope that our respected religious heads of institutions and clerics would retain the glory of their seat and deliver all their endure  with highest responsibility.”

He reiterated his call for complete shutdown on December 8 against the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jammu and Kashmir.
