Funeral prayers in absentia held in South Kashmir

Protest demonstrations were held here on Friday in solidarity with the families of children who were massacred in an attack on a school in Peshawar Pakistan on Tuesday.

 Hundreds of children carrying placards marched from Cheeni Chowk to Lal Chowk in the evening. They later held a candle light protest.
The placards read, “Let us live with peace”, “Down with terrorism”, “Stop killing Muslims” and “What you get by killing a kid”.
Elders later joined the children who also shouted slogans expressing solidarity with the victim families.
Earlier, funeral prayers in absentia were offered for the children after the Friday prayers in Hanfia Eidgah Janglat Mandi and many mosques of the town. There are reports of funeral payers in absentia from Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian districts of South Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Anantnag Working Journalist Association and Civil Society Islamabad also held a candle light protest in solidarity with the victims.
