Omar groomed by RSS, BJP in their lap: Sajjad

Sajjad Gani Lone, chairman Peoples Conference (S) today said that chief minister Omar Abdullah has no moral right to criticise him as he was groomed by RSS and BJP in its lap for long.

Omar had yesterday described Sajjad as stooge of BJP. Sajjad asked as to who is Omar trying to befool-the Kashmiri people, who are politically more matured and well aware than him. “Gone are the days when Abdullah family would mislead the innocent Kashmiri masses. Today a youth is well aware about the past and present. Having no political experience except for his birth in a political family, Omar was groomed by BJP by making him a minister in centre. He should be thankful to BJP for teaching him politics because after his tenure in Delhi, he seems to have learnt nothing. This is evident from his disastrous six year long rule in the state,” the Peoples Conference chairman said while addressing election rally in Handwara.

He lashed out at the chief minister, saying that it has become a fashion for him and media cell, with jaundiced vision, to connect each and every leader, whom they do not like with BJP. “When he (Omar) was minister in Vajpayee government, BJP was a secular and good party then and it has turned bad now. Omar should not have spoken against BJP and RSS as till yesterday he was sitting in their lap for power. It was National Conference who with the help of Congress always damaged the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Giving the background of his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Abdullah family and Mufti family want that apart from them nobody should meet the prime minister. When I met the PM they have turned rabid. I met Modi and discussed about the development of Kupwara district with him.”

Lone said that he can even give his life for the interests of Kashmiri nation and he is not like Omar “who can sell his faith and religion for power.”

Ridiculing chief minister, he said that Omar Abdullah could not decide for six months where from he should contest polls as he fears defeat.

Lone appealed to the voters of district Kupwara which goes to polls on December 2 to press of a button at the polling booth can change ‘our destiny.’ “We will be for the next six years what we choose to be on the December 2. All the political parties have come and made their customary speeches filled with rhetoric and lies. Now it is for the people to take a decision and make the distinction between falsehood and vision,” he said.

“We have laid out our vision for this district. We want it to be developed as a tourist destination, we want excellent health care facilities, we want academic institution like a University, we want a four lane road from Srinagar to Kupwara for easy access of tourists and we want special recruitment from central and state institutions for this extremely poor border district. It weighs heavily on our minds that thousands of youths equipped with top academic qualifications have no hope for employment,” he added.
