‘BJP committed to rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits’

Senior BJP leader and MLA Nirmal Singh on Monday said his party was aware of problems faced by the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community and reiterated that his party was committed to their rehabilitation.

“The stand of BJP about the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandit is clear that the party will spare no efforts to see that the Pandits, who are the original inhabitants of the Valley, are given their due and historical space in Kashmir,” Singh said at function held to pay homage to the martyrs of 1947.

He said that his party stands committed to ameliorating the hardships of the people.

While paying tributes to the martyrs, he said that the state could never forget the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives to keep aloft the banner of pluralism and nationalism in the state.

While referring to the exodus day, he said that January 19, 1990, stands as a dark day in the history of the state “when a whole scale and en-mass exile was forced on the peaceful community of Kashmiri Pandits”.

“New winds of hope and aspiration is blowing in the state and the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has brought in a unique energy in the country,” the recently elected MLA from Billawar said.
