Modi-Mufti meet likely after R-Day

Even though BJP has been maintaining a low profile for past several days over the issue of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, the latest political grapevine says much awaited meeting between PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on the cards after the Republic Day celebrations.

Going by recent political developments, a lot of groundwork has been completed by the negotiators representing both the parties. During the meeting between Mufti and Narendra Modi the remaining issues would be sorted out amicably to pave way for the alliance government in the state.

According to senior leaders belonging to both the parties, during informal discussions, the negotiators sorted out the contentious issues and also held discussions ahead of finalising Common Minimum Programme (CMP).

Though PDP was keen on expediting the process of government formation but BJP leaders deliberately delayed the meeting in the wake of visit of US President Barack Obama.

Both BJP and PDP leaders are expected to draw up their election strategy for the Rajya Sabha polls ahead of last date of filing of nomination papers on January 28. In the meanwhile, both the parties are busy playing mind games to extract maximum benefit.

The newly elected BJP legislators have been maintaining that a stable government would be formed soon as discussions were going on in the right direction. The speculations were rife in the corridors of power after the meeting between Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and Governor N N Vohra in Jammu where Mufti spent more than two hours and held threadbare discussions with the Governor.
