Power woes continue to irk city people

The power woes continue to irk people of Srinagar city in these cold and chilly conditions.
People in the city complain that there is no respite for the residents from both scheduled and unscheduled power cuts. Not only during the day, but the power remains off even during the night hours, they said.
As a part of this grim scenario, the residents of flood affected areas including Jawahar Nagar, Mehjoor Nagar, Natipora, Raj Bagh and adjoining areas continue to spend their evening hours in darkness while even during the day time, pesky power cuts are witnessed frequently.
“The power failures are making matters worse for us. The power continues to play hide and seek and sometimes we don’t receive supply for days together,” said a resident of Mehjoor Nagar to reporters, adding that though they pay the bills to department on monthly basis and yet the PDP fails to supply them with electricity as per the schedule.
Pertinently power woes continue to haunt people living in all the three Parliament segments of Kashmir including Central, South and North Kashmir.
A PDD official told Srinagar based news agency that the situation is grim as the consumers use heavy electrical gadgets.
“We are busy in chalking out a strategy to supply electricity to people on schedule basis,” he said.
