Things moving rapidly with PDP: BJP

‘Breakthrough expected later this month’

Government Formation

The ongoing political stalemate in Jammu and Kashmir could most probably be over by the end of this month as things have been happening rapidly between the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for government formation.

“Positive developments have taken place between the BJP and the PDP, and many issues have also been resolved by both the parties through thorough deliberations,” a senior leader of the BJP informed Greater Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a highly placed source within the party, while hinting at the signals coming from New Delhi, informed, “Now the things are happening rapidly at New Delhi and it is expected that the formal announcement could most probably be made by the end of this month.”
It may also be mentioned here that MoS in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Dr Jitender Singh, a few days back had also stated that ‘right persons have been dealing with the issues like AFSPA.’ This was an obvious hint at the ongoing talks with the PDP.
“I can’t tell as to where exactly the talks with the PDP have reached at present, but all I can say is that many issues have been resolved and the formal announcement could be made shortly,” a senior BJP leader of the state informed.
Sources also said that both the parties have been holding discussions with regard to Rajya Sabha elections, the notification of which was issued today. “We want to send as many members to the Upper House of the Parliament as we can, and as such the discussions between both the parties are being held.”
They added, “The picture in respect of government formation and the Rajya Sabha elections will most probably be clear by or before 28th of this month.”
PDP spokesman Naeeem Akhter, the other day, had also told that his party also wants to send as many members to the Upper House of the Parliament as it could. “If high command deems it necessary, it could approach other parties including the BJP”, he had said.
It may be mentioned that the last date for filling of nominations for Rajya Sabha elections is 28th of January.
