Kashmir participates in Int’l Travel Mart at Ahmadabad

At the International Travel Mart which began today at Ahmadabad, the Director Tourism Kashmir and MD JKTDC, Farooq A Shah informed the tour operators participating in the event that Kashmir is ready to welcome tourist.

Addressing the Gujarat travel association representatives, mediapersons and other visitors to the event, Shah said post-floods Kashmir has refurbished its infrastructure and “we are ready to welcome tourists.”

In his two-hour long presentation after inaugurating the event, Shah said that the floods did not hit the tourist spots in Kashmir. Responding to the queries of the participants, Shah said there was no reason for the intending tourists to have any apprehensions as “our tourists spots were not hit by the floods. Besides, we have refurbished our infrastructure and we are ready to welcome the guests.”

Shah assured the participants and the tour operators that government would ensure up-gradation of JKTDC properties. “We want to bring our infrastructure to the level as would be parallel to the best in the private sector,” he said.

“The tour operators from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh participating in the event expressed their happiness over the arrangements and the space provided to them by JK Tourism,” an official handout said.

The Director Tourism later went to the offices of leading tour and travel companies and requested them for promoting Kashmir as the ‘best of all, all the year destination.’
