We have reached excellent understanding: BJP

‘Equitable development will be coalition govt’s priority’

BJP’s chief interlocutor on talks with PDP Ram Madhav Friday said the two parties have reached an excellent understanding.
“We have reached an excellent understanding,” Madhav said and also clarified that the CMP had the “blessings” of all stake holders including the Sangh Parivar.
He, however, skirted questions on decisions taken on controversial issues saying that “one needs to wait till Sunday and see for themselves that there has been no compromise. Both the parties, which are diametrically opposite, have arrived at a common ground on contentious issues.”
Madhav said it was an alliance for governance but “no doubt there has been a political accommodation on both sides in it without compromising anywhere.”
Meanwhile, J&K BJP leader and Union Minister Jitendra Singh told reporters outside Parliament that the PDP-BJP government would focus on issues like development which rise above all areas of disagreement and both the parties will have “equal participation and mutual respect”.
“I think the emphasis would be on issues which rise above all the areas of disagreement. For example notably the issue of development. Therefore the priority of both sides will be development and that too equitable development of all the three regions of the state,” he said.
He further said given the kind of mandate that had emerged in this election for the J&K Assembly, a PDP-BJP alliance was the best option available.
“This is a historic opportunity. This is the best decision that could have happened, given the kind of mandate that has been given by the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” said Singh.
He said the government would be formed on a great degree of mutual respect.
“We would have an equal participation in government and I think this is a government which is going to be formed with great degree of mutual respect on issues on which the two sides agree and also on issues on which the two sides disagree,” he added.
