Another flashpoint: PDP MLAs say ‘return mortal remains of Afzal Guru’
A group of MLAs of PDP, which is an ally of BJP in J&K, has demanded that the mortal remains of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru be returned.
Eight PDP MLAs have issued a statement making the demand from the NDA government.
The PDP MLAs have claimed that hanging of Afzal Guru was a travesty of justice.
This comes a day after PDP patron and J&K chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed created a controversy by crediting Pakistan, Hurriyat and militants for peaceful assembly polls in the state.
Mufti’s comments evoked strong reactions and led to protests in Parliament.
However, unfazed by the reactions, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Monday said he stood by his remarks.
