Gulmarg remains cutoff

Flash floods damaged the vital bridge on Srinagar-Gulmarg highway on Sunday thus cutting off the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir from rest of the world. However, stranded tourists and locals were shifted to safer places via under construction Kunzar- Chanpora bridge, which is at present serving as an alternative crossover to reach Gulmarg.
MLA Tangmarg Muhammad Abbas Wani said he is monitoring the situation and has asked the authorities to restore Gulmarg road till Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, SDM Tangmarg Shiekh Abdul Qayoom visited the makeshift crossover and asked police to ensure security and safety of people while crossing the make shift bridge constructed by Chanpora villagers. Pertinently, flash floods have washed away side approach of Kunzar bridge and now under construction Kunzar Chanpora bridge is serving as a bypass makeshift crossover.
