Kashmiri students protest in Chandigarh – PMSSS Row
Scores of Kashmiri students pursuing various courses in Indo Global College of Engineering, Chandigarh Thursday staged protest inside college premises, demanding release of funds under Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) to the institutions where they are enrolled.
Students told Greater Kashmir over phone from Chandigarh that their final semester exams are scheduled to be held in April this year. “In case authorities fail to release the scholarship money, college would not allow us to sit in the examinations,” they said. They added that they had been evicted from the campus and hostel following non-release of payment under PMSSS by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
