‘4-laning of Highway takes toll on Kaigam fields’
Inhabitants of Kaigam Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Friday appealed authorities to unblock the water channels meant for irrigation of fields.
A delegation of villagers led by Towseef Ahmad said the small channels responsible for flowing out the water from agricultural land has been blocked due to the ongoing work on the four-laning of Srinagar- Jammu highway.
“The rain and flood waters are stagnant since September 2014 which has turned our fields into cesspool,” they alleged, urging the authorities to intervene.
