BJP misleading people of Jammu on AIIMS - CongressCongress in Jammu and Kashmir today alleged that BJP has given up its claim of setting up AIIMS in Jammu after entering into a “clandestine” deal with PDP and the party was misguiding people of the state over the issue.
Widespread protests were witnessed in Jammu recently after reports that the AIIMS is planned to be established in Srinagar.
“Now that the cat is out of the bag after the Union Minister in the PMO Jitendra Singh is reported to have accepted that the AIIMS was first sanctioned for Jammu.
“The BJP, especially the deputy chief minister, is misguiding the people of Jammu,” chief spokesman of the Pradesh Congress Committee Ravinder Sharma told PTI.
He said that the Congress was not against setting up of AIIMS in Kashmir, but the party wants the right of people of Jammu must not be snatched from them.
Sharma accused the BJP of entering into an “clandestine deal” with PDP.
“As part of a clandestine deal with PDP, BJP has given up the claim on AIIMS and now their deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh is misguiding the people of Jammu by saying that AIIMS will not be snatched from Kashmir while the Union minister has accepted that in reality it has been snatched from the people of Jammu,” he said.
“Congress maintains that both the regions of the state must get an AIIMS, but not at the cost of one another,” he said.
