Govt withdraws flood alert in Kashmir

After the water level came down the danger mark in Jhelum, the flood alert was withdrawn in the Kashmir valley, sources said on Wednesday.
Govt withdraws flood alert in KashmirAuthorities have declared that there is no flood threat now as the water level in River Jhelum at two places in South and Central Kashmir has come down considerably below the danger mark with the improvement in weather, they added.
According sources in Irrigation & Flood Control Department Kashmir, the water level recorded at 12 noon at Sangam in South Kashmir has now come considerably below the danger mark at 15.50 which is considered as Green Zone while it has also come down at Ram Munshi Bagh in Srinagar at 17.20 considered to be in Yellow Zone. The water level at Asham Sonawari point has also receded to 12.66 thereby coming in the Green Zone.
On Monday, the water level had crossed 21 feet at Sangam while it had crossed 18 feet at Ram Munshi Bagh in Srinagar which is the flood declaration level fixed by the department.
The MeT Department in its last weather forecast said the weather will remain dry from Tuesday onwards.
