Joint address bolsters Kashmiris’ freedom sentiments

In Kashmir, the people have expressed satisfaction over the joint protest held yesterday by top Hurriyet leaders during anti-India demonstrations following the killing of a teenaged youth at Narbal in Badgam district on Saturday.

Joint address bolsters Kashmiris’ freedom sentimentsThe addresses by Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik at a joint gathering in Narbal particularly boosted the Kashmiris’ spirit for freedom and the people have well taken the unity shown by the leaders. Media reports said that the emotions ran high when the huge gathering shouted vociferous pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans.

The leaders in their addresses on the occasion slammed pro-India political parties for empowering troops to kill the Kashmiris. They said that the BJP and other pro-India parties were engaged in efforts to weaken the movement.

Meanwhile, Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Zafar Akbar Butt, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Syed Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed and others, today, visited Narbal and expressed condolence with the bereaved family. They on the occasion expressed confidence that the pro-freedom camp of the occupied territory would unitedly fight against the Indian designs to perpetuate the illegal occupation of the land. Another team of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference led by Jehangir Ghani Butt also visited the martyr’s family.

The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society, a local human rights organisation, in a report revealed that apart from other factors the September 2014 floods were worsened by heavy militarization of the territory. the report was released at a seminar in Srinagar and those who spoke included anthropologist and Professor at Lehman College New York Mohammad Junaid, renowned Indian social rights activist, Gautam Navlakha, Pervez Imroz, Gautam Ghosh, Mir Fatimah Kanth and other social activists.

On the other hand, a member of Indian Parliament from Bharatiya Janata Party, Ashwini Kumar Chopra, talking to media in Haryana acknowledged that the Kashmiris were not willing to stay with India. He said that the Kashmiris only talked of Azadi.
