Landslides damage water supply schemes, roads in north Kashmir

The incessant rains which valley received during this week has damaged water schemes and roads in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Landslides were reported in various areas of Baramulla which has damaged houses and important road links.
Presently 32 km Babareshi Baramulla road is in dilapidated condition due to landslides which occurred during this week due to the continuous downpour.
Reports say that the road was blocked near Chonthipathri and Alapathri habitation some 10 kilometers from Tehsil headquarters of Tangmarg on Friday which affected the traffic movement on road for hours.
“The special R&B division Tangmarg has put their machinery to clear the road, “SDM Tangmarg Sheikh Abdul Qayoom said.
Further due to rains, 19 water schemes have been damaged due to which the water supply in region has been snapped.
While talking to us SDM Tangmarg said, “At least 19 water schemes were damaged of which 18 schemes were restored, the work on Hardu Abora water scheme is under process. Moreover the work on 95 spots is in progress by irrigation & flood control under temporary restoration scheme”.
The landslide occured in Chandilora, Bonsharan, Chandil ,Gunddalwash, Chanderseer and Khargam. Many houses in Chandetseer  Khargam, Hardu ichloo,Reshipora are in constant danger due to landsliding in the area.
Meanwhile a mosque in Rohama Rafiabad was damaged after a giant tree fell on it.
“Soon after the incident locals of the area shift the holly books and other goods to an safe place,” locals said.
In another incident dozens of houses including a mosque in Katyanwali village of Kandi Baramulla due to landslides.
