Several houses develop cracks in Bemina ,Nowshera

Several residential houses Sunday developed cracks in Hamdaniya Colony Sector 4A near Gurduwara Bemina.
“My house has started to develop big cracks in basement after remaining submerged in water for past over a week,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar of Hamdaniya Colony .
On March 29, flood spill channel passing through the area had breached near the Gurduwara there following incessant rains.
“The water from the channel entered into the area through my house. The water is still in compound of my house. Authorities failed to dewater the area and this is posing risk to other houses. My house has been rendered unsafe and I fear it might collapse anytime,” said Dar, an artist.
“I appeal government to provide me compensation for the damage as I am not in a position to repair or reconstruct the house. During floods last year, my paper machie unit was destroyed. Though government had approved Rs 90,000 loan under artisan scheme, however I could not even pay its installment due to damage to my unit. I also appeal Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu to waive off my loan to help me restart my business,” Dar added.
Meanwhile, several houses have been damaged in Matbagh Nowshera here due to water-logging caused by incessant rains.
The aggrieved residents said incessant rains increased water level in Nallah Amir Khan outlet of Dal lake and entered into several houses there.
“This has severely damaged my house. Last year also my house was damaged in floods in September last year, however I am yet to receive compensation for it. We appeal the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter,” said Muhammad Amin Sheikh of Matbagh Nowshera here.
Meanwhile, inhabitants of Hill View Colony (East) Sector 1, Old Airport Road said water-logging in the area is posing risk to their houses. “Due to water-logging, we are unable to venture out of our houses. We appeal authorities to look into the matter and prevent damage to our houses,” they added.
