Wular inundates Bandipora villages

This north Kashmir village has witnessed yet another flood within a span of seven months as the increasing water level in Wular lake has left hundreds of people homeless.
Following heavy rains incoming rivers like Jehlum, Ferozpura Ningli and other streams received heavy inflows during last few weeks resulting in massive increase of water level in Wular Lake thus submerging many village s including Saderkoot,Banyari,Zoorimanz,Bnyari,Ganstan,Gundjehangir.
These villages were yet to recover from September 2014 floods.
District administration had elevated embankments around Wular and fast flowing Ferozpur Nallah but it has failed to protect inhabitants of this ill-fated village.
Officially around 153 houses, four Masjids and four schools are presently submerged while authorities have distributed 155 tents among the affected families besides distribution f solar lights to each family.
Kanyari is situated close to fast flowing Ferozrpur Nallah and had suffered tremendous losses during September 2014 floods.
Erosion by the floodwaters every year had started chipping away at the village and people recall how their land, agricultural and otherwise, was taken away by the river bit by bit before it was devoured completely.
