Kashmir Inc for revitalizing handicraft exportsExpressing concern over dip in handicraft export, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday stated that 6th International Buyer Seller meet scheduled to be held from May 30 to June 1 at Srinagar will help address this issue. KCCI as part of its preparation for the mega event today unveiled logo for the 3-day buyer-seller meet to be held at SKICC here.
Talking to media, President, KCCI, Sheikh Ashiq said the fall in the handicraft exports is a cause of concern. “However, to improve our export tally, we are pinning hopes on buyer seller meet,” he said, adding that 3-day event would boost exports which witnessed Rs 500 crore decline due to last year’s floods. “In comparison to Rs 1700 crore exports in 2013-14 we were at least expecting to achieve Rs 2000 crore business in export segment last year but floods played a spoilsport,” he added.
