Mufti Sayed is playing the role of a solider of New Delhi: Hurriyat (G)

Mufti Sayed is playing the role of a solider of New Delhi - Hurriyat (G)Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani continued to remain under house arrest on 8 May and he was again denied to attend the Friday prayers while as police today arrested a senior leader of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Raja Mehraj-ud-din and detained him in the police station and on 7 May evening police raided the residence of Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar.

While terming the government action as state terrorism, hurriyat conference leaders led by senior leader Altaf Ahmad Shah today held a protest demonstration in Lalchowk against this act and demanded immediate release of Geelani. The pro-freedom leaders including Advocate Mohammad Shafi Reshi, Sayed Bashir Indrabi, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Sayed Mohammad Shafi and Syed Imtiyaz Hyder held protest demonstration after the Friday prayers and dozens of them were arrested by the police on the occasion.

The leaders who were arrested include Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Syed Imtiyaz Hyder, Umar Adil Dar, Gazi Javaid, Mohammad Yousuf Mir and Mohammad Rafiq Najar. Police stopped the protesters from moving ahead and forced them to disperse. While terming the restrictions over Geelani’s Friday congregational prayers as worst kind of state terrorism and direct interference into the religious affairs, Altaf questioned the Mufti Sayed that where is his slogan of “Battle of Ideas” which he was using from last many years. He said that the arrest of Geelani reflects the defeat of Mufti Sayed before the start of the battle and they have completely failed in facing Geelani on political turf.

Only two days back on the occasion of the opening of secretariat in Srinagar, Mufti Sayed had said that the pro-freedom leaders will be provided with political space but they are not even allowing to perform the religious duties how come will they provide the political space.

Altaf said that Mufti Sayed is playing the role of a solider of New Delhi, he has been appointed to facilitate in suppressing the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir. In a statement to Valley Media Service, hurriyat spokesman said that Geelani returned from New Delhi on 15 April and Mufti Sayed government started the old process of house arresting him and completely restricted his political activities.

During this period he was 3 times forcibly stopped from performing the important religious obligation of Friday prayers and he succeeded in offering the Friday prayers on 1 May only when he managed to give a slip to the police and left his home in the mid night and reached the Tral before the dawn. Hurriyat spokesman said that Geelani is now under the house detention from last many days and police have not only constructed a temporary bunker outside his residence but a heavy police vehicle bearing registration number JK01J-7092 has been placed blocking the main entrance gate.

The police personals present outside the house of Geelani doesn’t allow media persons to meet the pro-freedom leader and a female journalist from America was also stopped outside and when she enquired about this, the police personals cited the reason of the orders from their higher ups.

The spokesman said that on 8 May at the time of Friday prayers the police personals locked the door of Geelani’s residence from outside and such a deployment of more police personals was made as if an encounter was to be taken place there. A senior police officer was supervising the all these actions and he didn’t tell Geelani or his office staff that why are they doing so.
Besides Srinagar, people in many district headquarters protested against the unjust house arrest of the Geelani and demanded his immediate release. According to the reports, a huge protest demonstration was held in Islamabad district which was led by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah. (VMS)
