Power projects worth Rs 1,700 cr approvedThe Distribution Reforms Committee (DRC) of government Wednesday approved projects worth Rs 1,700 crore to strengthen power distribution infrastructure in the state.
“The DRC headed by Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey approved DPRs of Rs 450 crore under the Integrated Power Distribution Scheme (IPDS) for 86 Towns and DPRs of Rs 1249.68 crore under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY) for rural areas of the state,” an official spokesperson said.
He said these projects would strengthen power distribution infrastructure in both towns and villages of the state and enable the government to provide better power supply to the consumers.
The DPRs have been prepared by the state Power Development Department after detailed field survey and identifying critical infrastructural gaps in the distribution network.
He said the projects envisage strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks to improve reliability and quality of power supply, metering of distribution transformers and feeders, and consumers in both towns and villages to improve accounting and auditing of energy at all levels in the distribution system besides improving rural electrification.
