Two policemen suspended for ‘harassing’ tourists

Two policemen were suspended Wednesday for harassing non-local tourists at Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Two policemen suspended for ‘harassing’ touristsOfficial sources told GNS that a police team which had established naka at Sangam stopped a tourist vehicle and allegedly harassed them without any reasons. The tourist bound vehicle was travelling from Mumbai to Kashmir when they were stopped by the police team at Sangam.

In the meantime, they said, the tourists approached the police authorities in the district complained about the cops, they said.

The authorities after receiving a written complaint from the tourists launched the investigations which found the two cops, Head Constable Mohammad Yousf (Belt No. 35/Ang) and Constable Mudasir Ahmad (belt no. 1874) prima facie at fault.

While confirming the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, Mohammad Jabbar told GNS that two policemen have been placed suspended after found involved in harassing the tourists.
