At least 150 stranded tourists rescued in Ladakh
More than 150 tourists were stranded on the Leh-Manali road in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir last night due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall.
They were later rescued by police and civil administration officials.
“The tourists were stranded when a landslide washed?away a culvert on the Leh-Manali road last night. A team of police and civil administration officials rescued the tourists and took them to safety,” a police spokesman said here today.
He said the road has been blocked at several places due to landslides and the tourists had to trek a distance of 15 km before reaching the nearest functional bus point.
