Don’t fall in Delhi’s trap: Geelani to people

The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani Wednesday asked people not to fall in Delhi’s trap as its trying its best to “buy the people” to suppress the ongoing struggle in Kashmir.

Don’t fall in Delhi’s trap - Geelani to peopleAddressing a seminar titled ‘Jammu Kashmir— A single entity’ at his Hyderpora residence in uptown here he said, “Delhi has to understand that even if it constructs roads made of gold in Kashmir still people will not accept its control as Kashmiris are not a saleable commodity.”

He said that priority of “slave nations” should be independence. “The nation has to understand and realize the mistakes committed by it. People sacrificed lives for Kashmir cause. But the same people participate in pro-India rallies. The nation has to differentiate between right and wrong,” he added.

He said that any anti-Muslim activity by New Delhi and its agents would be opposed tooth and nail. He cautioned that if the anti-Muslim activities in Jammu division are not stopped, the Muslims of Kashmir would not remain silent and they would not leave their Jammu brethren to suffer at the hands of the communal and fascist forces.

He alleged that a process of anti-Muslim activities has been started in every Muslim locality from Kishtwar to Ramban, Udhampur, Doda and Poonch. “We have always stood for the well being of not only Muslims of Jammu and Ladakh but we are also well wishers of the non-Muslims residing in these two regions. However, we will not act as mute spectators,” he added.

“Since the inception of the BJP-PDP coalition government in the state, the communal and fascist forces are treating the Jammu division as their conquered territory and they are preparing to repeat another 1947 there,” he added.

“I urge people to express solidarity with Jammu Muslims on this Friday. The Muslim of Jammu are being oppressed by extremists backed by RSS and BJP. We will not let them (Jammu Muslims) down. They should also stage protest against such oppressions and should also inform us when any anti-Muslim activity takes place,” he said.

He also criticized the proposal by Pakistani government to grant Gilgit-Baltistan the status of country’s sixth province.

He urged people to not be divided on the names of Maslaks. “It pains me when a locality constructs two Masjids on the names of Ahli Hadith and Hanfi or any other name. We all are Muslims and what is harm in offering Nimaz in a one Masjid of locality. Let the people offer it behind the one Imam irrespective what the individual behind Imam prefers Rafaidain or performs it according to his own belief,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Naeem Khan said that people of Kashmir have to strengthen their struggle on political, armed and diplomatic front. “In 1990’s when we challenged Delhi through gun, it sent its all party delegation to our door steps and also called on various leaders who were jailed at that time,” he recalled.

Moulana Abdullah Tari of Democratic Freedom Party said that Delhi is trying its best to divide the Muslims on the names of sects, caste and other fake basis. “Our religion, book and Prophet (PBUH) is one and we should also remain united to foil the nefarious designs of our enemies,” said Tari.

Sartaj Sharief, a senior representative of Hurriyat from Jammu said that Jammu Muslims are thankful to Kashmiri leadership who have always stood for their rights and voiced their concern against the oppression of Muslims in Jammu.

“The need of the hour is that Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh should come closer. We have to  unite to defeat the nefarious designs of anti-Muslim elements,” he added.

He also thanked the Hurriyat leadership for raising its voice against eviction of Muslims and holding of wrestling on graveyard. Noor Muhammad Kalwal of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on the occasion coined new slogans ‘Jis Azadi main Jammu Nahi, Woh Azadi manzoor Nahi.’
