JK declines to receive sub-standard wheat from Delhi

Jammu and Kashmir government has declined to receive sub-standard wheat stock from Food Corporation of India (FCI), a Government of India subsidiary.

JK declines to receive sub-standard wheat from Delhi“The government rejects the low-grade wheat and rice stock to keep its promise and determination for providing quality essentials to the people”, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said.

We had earlier reported about the sub-standard wheat being dispatched by FCI to Jammu and Kashmir.

FCI had supplied sub-standard wheat to JK which relaxation scheme under which food grains were procured to provide financial help to farmers in distress in Punjab and other wheat producing areas.

The Minister has directed FCI to immediately lift the poor quality wheat from the godowns in JK and replace it with quality stock besides ensuring supply of quality rice.

He emphasized upon them to make sure that no such low grade commodities are supplied to JK godowns in future as otherwise the government will have to rethink over their dealings with them.

He also instructed the JK’s Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department to ensure the quality of essential commodities before receiving the consignments.
