Shab-e-Qadr observed with religious fervor across JK

‘Shab-e Qadr’ (Night of Power) was observed across Jammu and Kashmir with religious fervor.

Shab-e-Qadr observed with religious fervor across JKMuslims offered night-long prayers in local and central mosques and shrines across the Valley, reports and witnesses said.

People prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the state.

The biggest congregation was held at Hazratbal Shrine here where thousands of people joined special prayers during the night and also listened to sermons on teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Thousands of people also participated in nightlong prayers at historic Jamia Masjid here where Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq delivered a sermon after the ‘Taraveeh’ prayers.

Ulema and religious scholars in their sermons highlighted teachings of Islam and various aspects of life of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and urged Muslims to follow the same.

Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed felicitated people on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Qadr.

Highlighting importance of the most revered night, the Chief Minister, in his message, stated that the holy night in which Almighty Allah revealed the Glorious Qu’ran to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) for the guidance of mankind, has given us an opportunity to seek His mercy and blessings.

Mufti prayed for betterment of the people and hoped that the holy night would bring Allah’s generosity to all. He also prayed that the auspicious occasion would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood and be a harbinger of peace and prosperity in the state.

The Chief Minister had directed the Divisional Administration to ensure that all facilities were provided to the people especially on account of transportation, water supply and electricity during the night.

N N Vohra, Governor of J&K, also felicitated people on Shab-i-Qadr.

In a message of greetings, the Governor hoped that this auspicious occasion would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood and be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.

Congress Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir greeted people of J&K on the eve of Shab-e-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida.
