SMC ‘sleeps’ over illegal constructionResidents of Gogji Bagh today alleged that an illegal construction is coming up in violation to Srinagar Master Plan norms while as the Srinagar Municipal Corporation remains in slumber.
The residents alleged that are speeding up a construction of a hotel in residential area of Gogji Bagh over two kanals of land.
The residents alleged some unknown people started construction adjacent to Mumtaz guest house back one week and completed its first story within a week only.
“The construction began on war footing and all its walls are even completed so that no body looks inside,” claimed residents.
This area is purely a residential area where coming up of commercial structures will have serious consequences.
The residents claimed that they even approached to Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) but were shocked with the reply they received there.
“When we revealed to an officer in SMC, we were shocked when he replied us that what is our problem with the construction,” alleged residents.
The residents alleged that the officer is hand in glove with the constructing party.
When contacted on cell number given on smcsite.org of Ward Officer, Ward No: 30, he said that he has been transferred somewhere. (But contact remains to be there)
When contacted on numbers given on same departmental website in column ‘Is anybody raising illegal construction/encroaching on state land in your area?’, We received different replies. From 9419400201, we received reply that the officer is transferred. From 9419001894, we received reply that there is no incoming facility available. From 9419007818, we received that the officer has been transferred to sanitation branch.
Talking to us, chief enforcement officer, SMC, Manzoor Ahmad, said: “I will personally visit the place and check if any such thing is coming up over there. We won’t let any illegal construction to grown in the City.”
