JK Forest lift CRPF football cup

The JK Forest team won the CRPF Football Cup-2015 that concluded at the Bakshi Stadium here today. The winning football team was given a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh.

JK Forest lift CRPF football cupMinister of Youth, Service and Sports Imran Ansari, who was the chief guest on the concluding day of the event, said such events should be encouraged as they helped aspiring sportspersons to pursue career in their favourite game.

“Events like the CRPF Cup-2015 promote the spirit of sports among the youth of Kashmir and encourage them to pursue sports professionally. In Kashmir it is the CRPF that ensures a peaceful and secure existence of people of Kashmir. I appreciate and encourage such tournaments as events like this develop a bond of brotherhood between the CRPF and the youths of Kashmir. In future, I expect that teams from other forces like the ITBP, BSF, and Army should also participate in the event,” he said. The tournament had started on October 14.

The final match of the tournament was played between divisional teams of J&K Bank Eleven and J&K Forest Eleven.

“JK Forest team lifted the Trophy of the CRPF Cup-2015 by defeating JK Bank Eleven by 3-2. Cash prize of Rs 2 lakh was presented to the winning team and Rs 1 lakh was awarded to the runner-up,” said an official.

The event was organized under the Civic Action Programme of the CRPF and the entire tournament was sponsored by the 117 Battalion of the CRPF under the supervision of Commandant 117th Battalion of the CRPF Narendra Paul.

Atul Karwal, IGP, CRPF, Srinagar, said such events would be held in future as well.

“The sole purpose of organising the event was truly accomplished as great zeal and enthusiasm were observed among youths of Kashmir who had contested in the tournament. The spirit, with which teams played, truly portrayed their level of commitment, team work and dedication towards football. In future the CRPF will ensure such kind of sports opportunities to youths of Kashmir as it brings affinity and awareness about sports and team work among them,” he said.
