Three stone throwers under detention
The government today said 56 persons had been detained under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978, and the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988, this year till September 28.
This information was given by the Home Ministry in a written reply to a question submitted by Showkat Hussain Ganie during the question hour in the Council.
It was stated in the reply that 29 persons were under detention, which included two militants and seven overground workers.
It was stated that three stone throwers were under detention, besides five habitual criminals. Of the five habitual criminals, four were from Jammu and one from Anantnag in south Kashmir.
Of the nine drug peddlers under detention at present, two were from Rajouri, two from Baramulla, three from Bandipora and two from Pulwama.
