BOSE paper-setter doesn’t know who PDP allied with!

What could be called as utter negligence on part of the J&K Board of School Education (BOSE), an objective-type question in the Social Studies Paper of Class 10th examination held on Sunday had no right option. In Question No 11 (Part I), none of the options was right, leaving the students in a state of shock.

BOSE paper-setter doesn’t know who PDP allied withThe Question asked was: “In March 2015, PDP formed a coalition government in JK with?”, and the options were “I.N.C (Indian National Congress). NC, CPI (M) and PDF.”

“We were confused because the paper-setter had not given the exact option of BJP,” a 10th class student told .

Not only this, the paper setter also had wrongly written ‘LADHC’ instead of LAHDC which stands for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in another question.

“It seems the paper setter is ignorant or living in dark ages. Such paper setters should be named and shamed for playing with the career of students,” said a parent.

Students said while the BOSE should award them grace mark for the question having wrong options, it should take action against the paper setter and the person who moderated it.

Earlier, the Social Studies paper was scheduled on 17th November but was postponed as some teachers in examination halls wrongly distributed question papers of Social Studies on November 14 itself instead of scheduled Science paper.

Meanwhile, Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar said strict action would be taken against the involved paper setter.

“Despite making efforts to streamline the system, these mistakes continue to occur. But I will see this and fix the responsibility,” he said, adding, “An example will be set in this case. You have brought this into my notice and I promise that I will be unsparing in this case. Someone will pay for this.”

Meanwhile, BOSE said it has decided that one mark will be awarded to all the candidates in Social Science subject wherein right option for one of the objectives was not reflected due to ‘topical error’.
