Admn work comes to halt as ministers busy with tours
Ever since the Darbar Move offices opened in Jammu on November 9, top ministers, including Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, are on tours, with bureaucrats in tow. As a result, all administrative work has come to a standstill.
Sources in the secretariat said there were many issues which needed to be addressed on a priority basis. This included the follow-up work on the Prime Minister’s package of Rs 80,000 crore. The details of the implementation of the package have not been worked out so far.
“One and a half month has been wasted as no work was done after October 15 once the Darbar Move was announced,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. The Darbar Move offices closed in Srinagar on October 30.
Sources said ministers made “guest appearance” in the Cabinet meetings and visited their offices only when they wanted. They said the Chief Minister moves along with three or four ministers and a battery of officers during his tours, adversely affecting the working of the government.
