BJP has left its mandate hostage to Agenda of Alliance: Prof Hari Om

Prof Hari Om, who was suspended by the BJP for his opposition to the alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, today lashed out at the saffron party for leaving the legislative mandate “hostage” to the ‘Agenda of Alliance’.

BJP has left its mandate hostage to Agenda of Alliance - Prof Hari OmAddressing a seminar —BJP and its policies on Jammu and Kashmir — organised by the Panun Kashmir, a frontal organisation of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits, Prof Hari Om said: “The ‘Agenda of Alliance’ is subversion and promotion of not only greater Muslim Kashmir, but breaking up of Jammu and Ladakh.”

“The BJP got votes for pursuing the nationalist agenda, but the Hindus of Kashmir have been forsaken to appease the separatists. Refugees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and West Pakistan refugees have been abandoned to please Pakistan. We are approaching a dangerous situation were fundamentalist and pro-Pakistan forces have a total sway. Situation in Kashmir is more dangerous than it was in 1990,” he claimed.

The seminar saw several civil society members openly criticising the BJP-PDP government and its policies.

Senior advocate BS Salathia while endorsing the concerns raised by Prof Hari Om said since the formation of the PDP-BJP alliance the communal and fundamentalist forces had become stronger.

Panun Kashmir chairman Ajay Chrangoo alleged that the ‘Agenda of Alliance’, which sought absorption of Pandits into the Kashmiri milieu was itself “contradictory”.

“What is Kashmiri milieu? It is the Islamic milieu. Situation is really dangerous in the state. Reorganisation of the state has become imperative. Creation of the Union Territory of Panun Kashmir, north and east of the Jhelum is the only way to save Kashmir,” said Chrangoo.
