Kashmir only cause of Pak-India hostility - GeelaniThe veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The basic issue between Pakistan and India is the unresolved Kashmir dispute and until the issue is solved according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people, the dialogues between India and Pakistan will prove a futile exercise.”

He said India’s rigid and stubborn approach is the biggest hurdle in resolution of the Kashmir dispute which has created uncertainty and political instability in the entire South Asian region. He did not rule out the possibility of a destructive war between the nuclear-armed neighbors.

Senior Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in his statement said, settlement of the dispute is vital not only for better Pak-India relations but also for the establishment of peace and tranquility in the South Asia. He said that the war-like situation between the two nations could only be avoided by resolving the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks and implementation of the UN resolutions.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement said, “Only by resolving the Kashmir issue can New Delhi and Islamabad come closer to one another and solve other issues between themselves. As such, both nuclear neighbors will help in arriving at regional peace and stability and start a new era of peace, prosperity and happiness.” He said Kashmir is a political and a human issue which needs to be resolved in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

Jammu and Kashmir National Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan said that New Delhi must shun its traditional policy on Kashmir and accept its disputed nature.

The leaders made the comments in the backdrop of a meeting between prime ministers of Pakistan and India held on Monday on the sidelines of the UN summit on climate in Paris.
