Won’t budge on Agenda of Alliance: BJP tells PDP

• Blames PDP’s ‘internal issues’ for delay in Govt formation

• ‘If they come up with demands then negotiations must start afresh’

Won’t budge on Agenda of Alliance - BJP tells PDPSuggesting PDP to stick to the Agenda of Alliance, BJP Thursday said it won’t accept any demand seeking change or concessions in the terms of the agreement reached between the two parties last year.
Talking to us, senior BJP leader Ramesh Arora said if PDP demands or seeks any concession on agenda of alliance, BJP won’t accept it.
“It is better for both the parties to stick to the Agenda of Alliance and Common Minimum Program that Mufti sahab made for formation of coalition government. Should Mehbooba Ji seek any concession on it then BJP is not ready for it. If PDP comes up with these things then there are so many things that we can seek concession on,” Arora said.
“We didn’t receive any communication from PDP that would suggest any demand from them so far. However, if they do so then the negotiations must start afresh between the two parties for government formation,” he added.
Arora said BJP was not in a hurry to re-stitch its alliance with PDP. “But the party wants to form the government as soon as possible for larger public good,” he added.
Arora blamed PDP’s “internal issues” for delay in government formation.
“They (PDP) have some internal issues and that is why they are delaying the government formation. We couldn’t ascertain their reasons to vacate the CM house,” he said.
Some reports suggested that PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti has sought assurances from BJP of free hand at the highest level, including certain immediate concessions.
Reports suggested that Mehbooba wants the Centre-owned power projects based on state rivers to be handed back to J&K. “She wants to engage separatists in talks on Kashmir, and vacation of private land occupied by Indian Army. She also wants BJP leaders and supporters to refrain from raking up controversial issues like Article 370 and beef ban.”
