Curfew-like restrictions in Pampore, adjoining areas to prevents protests
Curfew-like restrictions were imposed on Tuesday in areas from Pantha Chowk to Pampore around the Srinagar-Jammu highway to prevent protests against the death of three militants in a gunfight with forces yesterday afternoon.
The militants died after a 48-hour-long gunfight with forces at the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Building (JKEDI) in Pampore area of Pulwama district.
“Fearing law and order problems, the restrictions have been imposed from Pantha Chowk to Pampore,” said a senior police officer.
Clashes had erupted in the area yesterday with youths trying to march towards the gunfight site.
