Santoor event on Feb 18 for sportspersons
In honour of sportspersons, a santoor event will be hosted by the Sports Council, Jammu, at the police auditorium here on February 18.
Santoor maestro Pandit Bhajan Sopori and his son Pandit Abhay Sopori have agreed to enthral the audience. The step has been initiated by vice-president of the Sports Council, Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra, who is also member the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
“The main aim of the event is that all sportspersons will get together for an evening and witness the world-class performance. I am very thankful to the father-son duo for agreeing to perform for sportsperson of Jammu,” Kalra told. Kalra is organising the event on his own and without getting support from any government agency or department. He, being a former sportsperson, wanted to do something for sports and sportspersons.
Krupali Singh, an Arjuna Awardee and gymnastics coach, expressed happiness on the organising of such an event. “This will certainly boost the morale of sportspersons,” she said.
