Hoteliers seek mini tourist reception at Lal ChowkHoteliers of the city have sought setting up of a mini tourist reception at Lal Chowk and operation of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) luxury mini-buses to tourist spots.
The demand was put by the Association of Hotel & Restaurant Operators of Lal Chowk (AHROL) after Adviser to Governor Parvez Dewan visited the City Centre today.
AHROL chairman Siraj Ahmad said they had met Dewan yesterday and apprised him about the issues facing Lal Chowk and today he (Adviser to Governor) paid a visit to conduct an on spot inspection.
“An AHROL delegation had called on the Adviser to Governor yesterday and apprised about the plight of Lal Chowk vis-à-vis tourist and commercial activities and its development. Accordingly, Dewan visited Lal Chowk today,” Siraj said.
He said the attention of the Adviser was drawn towards designating a mini tourist reception centre on the premises of Hotel Lala Rukh to facilitate the incoming tourists.
“The delegation also pleaded that SRTC should operate luxury tourist mini-buses to different tourist destinations. The attention of the Adviser was also drawn towards the development of the Saddar Court premises to maintain it as a heritage site besides shabby condition of the premises of burnt down Palladium structure,” he added.
He said Dewan directed the officials present on the occasion to take steps to fix the issues raised immediately. Other AHROL demands include footpaths be made free from occupation, footpath occupants be rehabilitated by providing alternative arrangements and improvement in drainage system.
