Mehbooba’s indecisiveness not in favour of JK : Omar

QUOTE: “Don’t look as an alternative towards us and if horse-trading comes as an alternative, we will not support it. We were mandated to be in the opposition for six years. We want the crisis to be over now. We are not in favour of pushing the state into a snap poll, but if such a situation arises, we will have no option but to go for fresh elections,” Omar Abdullah, NC working president

Mehbooba’s indecisiveness not in favour of JK - OmarNational Conference working president Omar Abdullah today said that Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti’s indecisiveness on government formation had kept the state in suspended animation which was not in favour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar said ‘God forbid’ if she acted the same way in the chair in the secretariat, it might affect governance, leading to the suffering of the people.
The former Chief Minister was talking to mediapersons after meeting Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan here this afternoon, where he discussed the political situation in the state with the Governor and also raised growth and development issues.
Omar said it was more than two months that the state was being kept in suspended animation because of Mehbooba’s ‘own reasons’.
“If her clandestine meet with BJP president Amit Shah concluded on a healthy note, why is she shying away from government formation?” he asked.
The former Chief Minister, however, did not support mid-term elections in the state, adding that if the PDP fails to stitch an alliance with the BJP or take the Congress’ support to form the government, it should submit its viewpoint to the Governor so that the latter could dissolve the Assembly and announce fresh elections in the state.
Not favouring horse-trading by quoting the 1984 elections, which started militancy in the state, Omar said: “Don’t look as an alternative towards us and if horse-trading comes as an alternative, we will not support it. We were mandated to be in the opposition for six years. We want the crisis to be over now. We are not in favour of pushing the state into a snap poll, but if such a situation arises, we will have no option but to go for fresh elections,” said Omar.
“It is apparent now that there is an effort being made to gather support independent of Mehbooba Mufti. Mehbooba rushing to New Delhi is her last-ditch attempt at face-saving. If she fails to form the government on BJP issues, she is likely to lose more ground and her party may split,” said Omar.
