Seven day Holi bonanza begins in Rajouri
Holi, the festival of colours, has a special significance here as Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims celebrate the festival a week in advance by taking out processions on alternate days in the name of Lord Bhairon.
Rajouri city today witnessed the beginning of the 7-day-long Holi festival when the Bhairon Committee took out the procession of Bhairon Devta which passed through various bazaars and lanes followed by hundreds of youth from both the communities.
Inhabitants of Rajouri city feel that by celebrating this festival they are saved from evils.
Tight security arrangements were made in the city during the procession as in the past there was a communal tension during the festival which led to large-scale violence.
