The Chuntkul bund near SP College here has become a safe haven for the male students who bunk their classes.
A group of senior citizens said that a large number of students from various schools in the city-centre bunk their classes and sit on the bund for rest of the day.
“Presence of these students hampers movement of pedestrians particularly females along the route. The respective school managements and police has failed to check the menace,” they said.
SP East Sheikh Faisel Qayoom assured to look into the matter.
“We will maintain a constant vigil to prevent these students from bunking the classes. We appeal parents to keep check on activities of these wards,” the SP said.
“It is responsibility of the school authorities to check daily attendance and if anyone is found absent without leave, they should call their parents,” said a group of parents
The locals appealed the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar and Director School Education to look into the matter.
