Er Rashid leads protest against coalition govt, vows to resist ‘Sainik colony’
An independent Kashmir legislator on Tuesday led a strong protest march against the proposed Sainik colony in Jammu and Kashmir.
MLA Langate Er Rashid, along with his hundreds of supporters, staged a massive protest against the coalition government in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, saying that they wouldn’t allow the establishment of a colony for ex-servicemen in the state.
He said that the Sainik colony would be established on the “bodies of Kashmiris”.
“We wouldn’t allow any such move,” said Rashid.
The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had on Monday admitted that ex-servicemen of the state were demanding the establishment of a residential colony.
However, she had clarified that the colony was only for State subjects.
