KEA tells Govt to come clean on Pandit colonies and other issues

The KEA Chairman appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to come clean on the government stand on these sensitive issues which are “dragging Kashmir towards another 2008 like agitation.”

KEA tells Govt to come clean on Pandit colonies and other issuesChairman, Kashmir Economic Alliance, Haji Muhammad Yasin Khan Friday asked the Government to come clean on the proposed Pandit colonies and other controversial issues.

Khan, who is also president Kashmir Traders’ and Manufacturers’ Federation (KTMF) said the so-called “clarification” by the government on the issue of Pandit colonies in a recent press conference held by its spokesperson, has “raised more queries than suggesting any clear answer to the vexed issue.”

“For almost a year now, this spokesman has been trying to befool the people of Kashmir through a jugglery of words like ‘inclusive and exclusive’, ‘intrinsic and extrinsic’ on this issue. But the simple question is that is Government making colonies for Pandits or not,” Khan in a statement said.

He alleged that the Government spokesman also gave misleading statements on the controversy surrounding construction of Sainik Colony. “Last year, he termed the report as baseless whereas this year he had a new version to narrate, as if land row is writing a fiction novel,” Khan said.

Khan said the “ambiguous lip service” on the issue which has serious ramifications won’t do. “The Government needs to come up with a written statement over its stand on the issue.”

“We demand an unambiguous written statement by the Government on whether it will allow construction of Sainik Colony, establishment of shelters for non-locals, and separate establishment of colony for migrant Pandits,” he said.

“We demand clear cut answer from the Government whether the Industrial Policy is being reviewed. Meanwhile, the Government should immediately shelve the implementation of the policy,” Khan said, adding that otherwise it would be presumed that there was a game plan “to buy time to further strengthen the RSS roots in Jammu and Kashmir.”

The KEA Chairman appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to come clean on the government stand on these sensitive issues which are “dragging Kashmir towards another 2008 like agitation.”

Khan clarified that Kashmir Inc was not against return of Pandits but “the plan to create separate colonies is a conspiracy.”
