Omar raises issue of Kashmiri students’ harassment

Omar raises issue of Kashmiri students’ harassmentFormer Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed concern over the complaints about the alleged harassment of some Kashmiri students undergoing training in some institutions outside the state. He asked the government to take immediate action to instil confidence among them.
Omar raised the issue in the Assembly here today, pointing out that the police in the “particular” institution where the students were undergoing training under the Udaan project were not taking any action. He felt that the students were being harassed in the hostel and there was need to take an immediate action.
Responding to Omar’s concern, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said he had already spoken to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers in this regard. He said the government had decided to send a group of ministers to the states where the students from J&K were undergoing training and studies.
